Debotakhum, time to lost in nature

Debotakhum is located in Roangchhari upazila of Bandarban district. Natural Bandarban is said to be the paradise of Khum and the crown of excellence of this kingdom will undoubtedly go to Devatakhum. According to the locals, this khum is about 50-60 feet deep and 700 feet long which is much bigger than Velakhum and much more wild.

If you want to go to Devtakhum, first you have to go from Roangchhari to Kacchaptoli Army Camp and trek to Shilbandha Para (Liragaon) with permission. Of course, you have to make a strong bamboo valve from the sealed area. Going to Shilbandha, you have to cross Pong Su Aung Khum first. Devatakhum begins after Pong Su Aung Khum is crossed. To the locals it is Sonakhum. Many also call it Thanchikhum in Marma language.

Debotakhum’s trail is as beautiful as it is terrifying. In the rainy season, just as the trail will catch your eye in the form of a ridge / mountain, there is also a risk of slipping on the slippery rocky path. No noise, out of network. Silent silence all around, like a haunted environment.

The atmosphere will feel more haunted by the sound of boiling water. The path has gone through the middle of two huge mountains which you have to give by raft. You can enjoy nature up close here. As if to merge with nature. The way to go will tell you how beautiful the way to heaven can be.

Impossible kind of adventure, perfect deity to frighten the mind. Trekking, Adventure, Risk, Vela Kayaking is a combo package of everything. Absolutely outside the network, a different environment.

All around is quiet. There will be the sound of water gushing from above, the sound of their own raft and the echo of your words!

The surroundings are so spooky and silent that it will really give you a feel of real adventure. This khum (hole / where water accumulates) in the middle of two big hills is very dark on the inside. Sunlight is very narrow.

The way to Devtakhum

Bandarban is the first place to go from anywhere in Bangladesh. From there by bus / Chander Gari / CNG / motorbike to Roangchhari (40-50 minutes journey). From there by CNG / Motorcycle to Kachpatli Bazaar (30 minutes walk). Then walk for an hour and a half on foot.

Cost

• Bus fare from Dhaka to Bandarban is Tk. 620 per person (non AC bus). Remember bus fares are variable.
• Bus fare from Bandarban to Roangchhari – 60 taka per person.
• Mahindra Auto (6 people) coming from Bandarban to Kachhapatli 1600 taka.
• CNG fare from Roangchhari to Kachchapatli is approximately 150-200 taka. Vela and life jacket fare is 300-450 taka.
• The total cost of the guide is 500 taka.

Things to keep in mind

• You have to go to Kachpatali and report to the army camp with a guide. Two photocopies of National Identity Card / Passport must be kept!
• It is better to tell the guide in advance about the raft to go around Devtakhum. There will be a problem in the network !! Only Robi / Airtel network will be available in Kachpatali !! But on the way from there to Khum you will be completely out of the network.
• If you are not with Trekking Sue, buy it. It will cost 120-140 rupees. You will find it in Bandarban.
• On the way to Devtakhum you will find a fountain called Shilbandha Jharna. Be sure to check out the fountain on the way.
• The real beauty of Khum can be seen in the rainy season. However, the trekking after the Shilbandha waterfall is very challenging because the waterway is very slippery. So it is better to be mentally prepared in advance.
• It is better for new trekkers to avoid the rainy season because its trail look can be terrible for you in the rainy season.
